Georgia Dogs on Clemson | Post Game Wk 1
As much as it pains me to say this, it's officially time to start questioning our coaching. I love Dabo Sweeney more than anyone. I admire his values, his family style, and his loyalty. But when it comes to Clemson football this year, we need to scrutinize the decisions and personnel choices being made.
Two seasons ago, DJU had a rough year, proving time and again that he wasn't QB1 material. Yet, it took until the ACC Championship game for Dabo to put Cade Klubnik in, who led us to victory. But then Cade struggled against Tennessee, and the same old play calls and mistakes persisted. Fast forward to this season, and nothing has changed. The same offensive coordinator, the same quarterback, and the same ineffective play calls.
Watching our game against Georgia, it was clear that our offense looked identical to last year. The only difference? We don't have Will Shipley to lean on when Phil Mafah can't get it going. Dabo's resistance to change is hurting us. The transfer portal could have been a game-changer, but we didn't capitalize on it. We could have brought in a strong quarterback to challenge Cade or bolstered our offensive line. Instead, we stuck with the same old, same old.
Garrett Riley, our offensive coordinator, needs to feel the heat. If our offense continues to struggle, there must be changes. We have too much talent to be underperforming like this. Our wide receivers, like Adam Randall, Troy Stellato, and the rookies TJ Moore and Bryant Wesco, are brimming with potential. Yet, our play calling doesn't give them a chance to shine.
Cade Klubnik also needs to take responsibility. His performance against Georgia showed no growth from last season. Overthrows, underthrows, and poor decision-making plagued his game. We need a quarterback who can accurately hit his receivers and make smart decisions under pressure.
Despite the frustrations, let's not lose hope. The season is long, and we have time to turn things around. Our defense showed promise, limiting Georgia to six points in the first half. We have the talent; we just need to utilize it better.
Let's take a deep breath and stay positive. We have eleven more games to prove ourselves. The path to the ACC Championship and the college football playoffs is still open. Let's regroup, refocus, and get ready for our next matchup against App State.
Thank you for joining me on this postgame reflection. I know it's been a tough game, but let's keep our Tiger pride alive and roaring. As always, go Tigers!
